Hey hey, Ladies!! So, let’s talk about the definition of family. You know…not the family that you came from (as important or NON-important as they may be in your current life), but the family you are currently creating. Yes, that is “YOUR family!”
You. Your spouse. Your babies. That’s it. That’s YOUR nuclear family now. You have now created another nucleus of buzzing lives full of joy and fun. So, how do others outside your nuclear family affect you, affect your parenting, affect your calendar, affect your emotions? And do they even have a “right” to?
Okay…you know we love bottomlines, so we’re not going to candy-coat this one or save you from some emotional pain, so here it goes (waiting for the rip of the band-aid, or the severing of the umbilical cord)-
NOPE! YOU ARE NOT BEHOLDENED (Erin’s favorite word) TO ANYONE.
Sometimes that bears repeating…let’s rephrase. You are responsible for your life, your role in your marriage and family, and how you perform in both is up to you. You do not owe anyone anything. You do not have to be manipulated, convinced, persuaded, etc. about anything, because you are responsible for you.
This is awesome, for those independent souls out there…and can be a little daunting for those of us who “need” (but seriously, it’s a “want”) approval and guidance.
See, others are not responsible for how WE live our lives. So, we have to choose how to conduct our lives without the chaos of 93 opinions weighing in on it…and there you have BOUNDARIES!
