Baby Equipment: What You (And Your Baby) Really Need to Survive

Babies R Us will tell you it takes $10,000 worth of top-of-the-line equipment to raise a child. Baby Einstein will tell you in order to make your baby a genius you need to buy their full collection of DVDs for $500. Every random friends’ Pintrest virtual bulletin board will scream at you “the cutest necessities for your baby all hand-made from a shoe string…all you need is 17 hours.”

You do not completely understand the pressure of advertising and peer pressure until you get pregnant and begin to prepare for your baby’s arrival! As we have said before in previous vlogs on baby registering and baby showers, it is overwhelming. Period. Walking into a baby superstore dedicated to the first 12 months of a child’s life is enough to make you run away and hide (or convince your spouse to get a second and third job to support your offspring).

Do you really need it “all”? Do you need a swing, plus a bouncer, plus a bassinet, and a crib? And while you’re at it, why not throw in a Moses Basket?? Do you need the latest and greatest? Do you really need at all (or is it all just a fabricated ploy to make you part with your hard earned cash??)?

Watch Erin and Rebecca as they break down their favorite pieces of baby equipment, how they look at each piece of equipment that fits each stage of a baby’s life, and how Erin, in particular, is “gearing up” to handle twins.
